Willow Creek Jasper Rough Rock Stone Slab
This natural rough lapidary rock slab is lovely Willow Creek Jasper from just north of Eagle, Idaho (northeast of Boise) and is 4 inches by 4 inches and 4 mm thick (plus the thicker corner!).
It weighs .22 lbs. and is shown wet in the first 2 pictures.
This Jasper actually forms as the centers of giant thundereggs, some as large as 10 feet in diameter.
Willow Creek Jasper is known for its subtle pastel colors (mostly pink, green and tans), squiggly line patterns, and orb patterns.
Compared to other fine jaspers, Willow Creek has fewer natural fractures and is therefore called a Porcelain Jasper.
Jasper is a form of Chalcedony. Jasper usually refers to an opaque stone, with a solid color or an irregular display of colors caused by various mineral impurities. The name Jasper is derived from the Greek word that means "spotted stone". Willow Creek Jasper is named for its location.
