This lovely Wave Dolomite semiprecious stone is slabbed and polished on one face.
This polished stone slab is 3.9 inches long by 3.8 inches wide and 5 mm or almost .25 inch thick.
It could be recut.
A pretty patterned stone known as Wave Dolomite, Wavy Dolomite, Rolling Hills Dolomite, or Desert Sandstorm .
It is believed that this may be a stromatolite formation, or fossilized algae.
Dolomite is a sedimentary carbonate rock and is found all over the world. Dolomite is both a mineral and a rock. The mineral is the pure form, and Dolomite rock is composed mostly of Dolomite but also with impurities such as Calcite, Quartz, and Feldspar. It is named for the French mineralogist, Deodat de Dolomieu.
Dolomite is a fairly soft stone-about a 3.5 to a 4.
