Kabamba Jasper is a green and black orbicular rock from the South Africa Rift on the west side of the island of Madagascar.
The name Kabamba Jasper is derived from its place of origin, the area of Kabamba in the west central Bongolava region of Madagascar, in the former province of Antananarivo.
This stone is also sold under the names Kambaba Jasper, Kambamba Jasper, and Crocodile Jasper or Crocodile Rock.
Kabamba Jasper is actually a volcanic Rhyolite rock with black orbs or rounded aggregates that consist of needles of amphiboles.
Though previously marketed as a stromatolite, experts now say it is not.
