Starburst Jasper or Chrysanthemum Jasper Small Sphere
This lovely Starburst Jasper small stone sphere is just 1.3 inches or 33 mm in diameter.
Starburst Jasper is also known as Chrysanthemum Jasper, both names refer to its striking "starburst" or flower pattern. It also has been marketed under the name Spider Jasper.
Though called a jasper it is more likely a type of Rhyolite, but it is a hard material and unlike most rhyolite-it takes a good polish.
It is found in Mexico.
Rhyolite is an extrusive igneous rock formed as a deposit of volcanic ash. The ash becomes rock after being exposed to extreme heat and pressure. This pattern is created by large crystals that formed when the rhyolite was cooling.
Metaphysical Properties of Rhyolite: Rhyolite is said to encourage change and creativity.
