Snakeskin Jasper is a semi precious gemstone material from Turee Creek Station in the Phibara region of western Australia.

It is red, orangey red and white banded and is named for the pretty pattern similar to a snake's skin.

The Snakeskin Jasper deposit is about 100 miles from the iron ore mining town of Newman which is approximately 700 miles north of the capital, Perth.  This  region is one of the biggest producers of high grade iron ore in the world.

Jasper is a form of Chalcedony.

Snakeskin Jasper is a metamorphic material found in the seams of a jaspilite in the Weeli Wooli Formation. It gets its red color from the presence of iron. The interesting banding and swirls is from the earth's movement.

The lapidary rock material is believed to be about 2.5 billion years old.

Snakeskin Jasper is hard and takes a very nice polish.

Metaphysical Properties: Red Jasper is called a stone of fairness and justice because mystical lore claims that it decreases unjustness and helps in unfair situations. It is also said to enhance responsibility, choice, and compassion. It is said to assist in protection and rescue from danger.
