As is common with this material it does have many natural internal flaws and inclusions. This one is a little rough with lots of surface flaws too, but it is really cool with its milky white quartz base and brown smoky scepter formation!
This natural Smoky Scepter Quartz rock crystal is from Brazil.
Quartz is one of the most abundant minerals on earth. It is found on every continent, and just about every country.
When quartz has a brown or grayish brown shade it is called "Smoky Quartz". The color is from free silicon formed from the silicon dioxide by natural irradiation.
Quartz has long been the subject of spiritual beliefs and folklore. Crystal balls brought back by the Crusaders where believed to possess magical powers. In fact, the name crystal comes from the Greek word for "ice", as it was believed that rock crystal was eternally frozen.
