African Green Malachite Stone Egg Rock
This Malachite semi precious stone egg is 2.75 inches or 69 mm in height.
Lovely leafy green banded Malachite material! The material came from the Katanga Mine area in the Congo, Africa.
Malachite is a copper carbonate. It has a hardness between 3.5 and 4. It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system, and most often forms botryoidal, fibrous, or stalagmitic masses. This material is found in the oxidation zone of major copper deposits.
This stone's name is from the Greek, malache, - "mallow" in reference to its green leaf color.
