Leopard Skin Jasper is named for its lovely and colorful pattern.
It is an orbicular jasper with mottled reds, pinks, yellows, and browns and resembles the fur of a leopard.
Though called a jasper it is more likely a type of Rhyolite, but it is a hard material and takes a good polish.
Leopard Skin Jasper does come from various places but the largest and most well known supply is found in Aquas Calientes, in Chihuahua, Mexico.
It is considered a Shaman stone or a sacred stone to the Native Americans.
