Product Description
Howlite Polished Rock
This white Howlite nodule is polished on one face, natural rough on the rest of it.
The lovely polished rock is 3.3 inches tall by 3.5 inches wide and 2 inches thick.
It stands nice as shown in the first and second picture.
Howlite is a calcium borosilicate hydroxide.
It is found in massive "cauliflower" shaped nodules.
Howlite, which is named for its discoverer Henry How (a Nova Scotia geologist), is always white or gray. It is often dyed, sometimes blue to look like turquoise.
This Howlite is from Tick Canyon, California. The mine stopped being worked for borax in the early 1900's and most of the semiprecious gemstone material sold now is waste product from the mine. It was collected off the dumps for many years, but the area has since been closed by housing developments.
Metaphysical Properties: Howlite is said to decrease selfishness, stress, pain, and rudeness by increasing tact. It is also said to help strengthen bones, teeth, calcium levels and leg cramps. And it is believed Howlite heightens creativity!
