Drusy Chrysocolla Mineral Specimen or Rough Rock
This gorgeous unpolished mineral specimen of Chrysocolla Malachite with a white quartz crystal Drusy covering is 5.1 inches long by 3 inches tall and 3 inches thick.
The crystals are large and sparkly, but do have some damage.
Druse (pronounced drew-zee and most often spelled drusy or druzy) is a trade name for a natural surface texture of fine quartz crystals that sparkle.
Chrysocolla is a copper silicate and is found in the copper oxide zones of major copper deposits. It is usually found with other copper ores, most commonly Malachite.
This natural mineral specimen came from the Ray Mine in Arizona.
The name Chrysocolla first appears in the writings of Theophrastus (315 BC). Chrysocolla is named from the Greek chrysos - "gold" and kolla - "glue" in allusion to the name of the material used to solder gold.
