Drusy Chrysocolla Mineral Specimen or Rough Rock
This beautiful unpolished mineral specimen of Chrysocolla Malachite with a natural sparkly blue Drusy Chrysocolla coating is 2.2 inches tall by 2.45 inches wide and 1.2 inches thick.
The Drusy Chrysocolla crystals cover 1.8 inches by 1.5 inches and is a lovely turquoise blue (with some gray shading) and sparkly.
Druse (pronounced drew-zee and most often spelled drusy or druzy) is a trade name for a natural surface texture of fine quartz crystals that sparkle.
The drusy reflects the color of the stone below.
Chrysocolla is a copper silicate and is found in the copper oxide zones of major copper deposits. It is usually found with other copper ores, most commonly Malachite.
This natural mineral specimen came from the Bagdad Copper Mine in Arizona.
The name Chrysocolla first appears in the writings of Theophrastus (315 BC). Chrysocolla is named from the Greek chrysos - "gold" and kolla - "glue" in allusion to the name of the material used to solder gold.
