Lovely colorful Brazilian Agate slabbed and polished on one side, with velvet backing and sold with a stand.
This orange banded semiprecious stone slab is 7.5 inches long by 4.5 inches wide and 1 inch thick.
Brazil produces a huge assortment of agates. There are at least 15 major Agate producing areas in the country of Brazil. Piranha Agate comes from the State of Parana, near Guarapuava, Brazil. The name is believed to be a misspelling of its location.
No gemstone is more creatively striped by nature than agate, chalcedony quartz that forms in concentric layers in a wide variety of colors and textures. Each individual agate forms by filling a cavity in host rock. As a result, agate often is found as a round nodule, with concentric bands like the rings of a tree trunk.
